I have a bit of an obsession with tools, not just horological ones, and sometimes they don’t even have to be useful. I just like them.
I tend to prefer the pre-loved variety; there is a quality in older tools that doesn’t exist today. That being said, there are modern tools which are a huge improvement over their early ancestors, or which never used to exist, especially in electronics.
So on this page, I’ll talk about some of my existing tools, and talk a bit about maintenance and restoration; as well as review new tools as I buy them.
I’ll delve into the materials they are made from, how they’re made, repairability and all of the other interesting little bits that are often ignored in tool reviews.
